Reason Escape Room

Summary

Reason was a very cool, technology-based escape room experience. Reason uses a variety of new technologies such as virtual reality, drones, and 3D printing to create an experience that requires both teamwork, and the ability to adapt to to new technology and learn on the fly.  Reason is pioneering this new type of escape room, using each escape room experience to improve the next one.  Success in the escape room requires strategic thinking, problem solving, and critical thinking, yet all of that is useless without teamwork.

Our experience had us trapped in a reactor, with 90 minutes to shut it down.  We started in one room, and had to do things like figure out puzzles, analyze constellations, and use special glasses to unlock room two.  We competed against the other group for the best time, and it took every member of the group to be victorious. The group that was not competing still had the opportunity to enjoy Reason with their VR headset and different games.

Key Takeaways

  • Based on all that we heard from different companies and speakers about startups, getting out of an escape room is a lot like launching a startup.  It is really an all hands on deck frantic experience that requires a lot of communication and teamwork in order to be successful. Gary Swart gave us insight as to what it is like being there for the launch of a startup, and his description sounds a lot like a real-life escape room that is months instead of 90 minutes.
